As Antwerp is eld‘s home base, we’re happy to be working on a number of exciting projects currently under construction in the city. They represent a wide variety of typologies, and the range of services eld can offer.
Once voted one of the ‘ugliest buildings in europe’, Antwerp tower is getting a complete overhaul. The seventies office high-rise, located right next to the neo-classical Opera House, is being renovated following a mixed-use scheme developed with WAA for Matexi.
eld is providing architectural, structural and MEP engineering services for this combination project of a Colruyt store and residential development in the centre of Antwerp. The project includes an underground floor with parking and retail storage, a ground floor with retail function and apartments on the street side, with city gardens and greenhouses on the roof. Total surface area : 15.500m². Project design by Inarco.
Building for scientific and technical research on sustainable chemistry. There are 3 functional clusters and 1 technical area, with a total surface of 4,350 m2. In each cluster, a cost-efficient and flexible solution is offered with regard to movable wall systems. The building includes a demonstration hall (for organic and inorganic synthesis as well as biotechnological materials), laboratories, offices, storage areas, open access areas for analytical equipment, etc.
eld is providing structural engineering services.
Located at the foot of Antwerp tower, The Opera Square is to be a crucial public transportation node in the large scale infrastructure project ‘Noorderlijn’. It includes a tunnel for motor vehicles, an underground tram station, a public car park and an entrance pavilion. Appointed by contractor Tramcontractors, eld developed the BIM construction model for this project.
eld provided structural engineering services for this D&B project in the Blue Gate brownfield redevelopment of the site of the former southern petrol terminal of Antwerp.
BlueChem is an incubator for a sustainable chemical industry, with offices, labs and facilities for innovative sustainable startups in the chemical industry. Bluechem is 100% circular, and certified BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
Thanks to the great project team with LOW architecten, Ingenium and contractor MBG, Bluechem was recently delivered.
DPG Media HQ
DPG Media (formerly ‘De Persgroep’) chose to relocate their headquarters from Kobbegem, near Brussels, to the Antwerp station district. eld provided structural and MEP engineering services for this project that was delivered in October 2019.
After presenting a winning scheme with Londen based Sergison Bates architects, the team was appointed to develop a scheme for this waterside residential project with underground car park. The project is set to be certified Breeam ‘Excellent’.
